All That Glitters

Trust in the Lord (1).png

I have a confession to make. I have banned glitter. I can’t even begin to describe how much I dislike these sprinkles of joy. And I don’t think I’m alone in this - I have seen the faces of caregivers who hold these glitter globs of love given to them. Maybe if we had time for things to dry. Maybe. But honestly? It’s the clean up. It. Never. Goes. Away.

But then there’s Jessica who has many containers of glitter. In her home. And her craft ideas are awesome and everyone leaves happy with their masterpieces in hand. And clean-ish. We all need a Jessica in our lives. A person who looks beyond what hangs us up. A person who nudges us to step out of our comfort (discomfort) zone and embrace what is at hand.

I wonder if God sometimes feels the same about us - when we see situations that are too messy, He sees opportunities to spread His Word to a generation needing to hear of his love. My reasons for saying ‘no’ kind of don’t count, but I know with Him all things are possible.

Glitter and I still aren’t friends. But I sure am thankful for the people God has placed in my life who don’t let me get stuck in my ways… even if those ways includes glitter.

QUESTIONS FOR YOU:

Who nudges you when you might need a little push in the right direction?

(And a really serious question: does anyone actually love glitter?)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
