Connecting to a (Higher) Power Source
If you had to write a top three prayer request list right now, would this list match yours?
Volunteers who’d offer to return for Summer and/or Fall programming
Renewed energy for you and your team
Families who’d want to stay connected throughout the summer months
Perhaps I got your list right (or maybe I’m way off!) but, I would venture to say that at least one of your options would include some way of staying connected to your church community. Because that’s what we long for - connection with God, connection with our team and connection with our families. But wow. Staying connected takes a lot of time and energy.
Where is your energy level right now? It’s a tad ironic that the bursting tree leaves, emerging blooms and noise of chipper birds continually remind us that there is new growth taking place right before our eyes. Nature is bursting at the seams and is alive with new growth. But I’m not sure ministry workers are feeling the same level of exuberance. Isaiah 43:19 comes to mind…
Do you hear the hope in this verse? In the midst of the wasteland, there is new growth taking place. Who is making this happen? God. He is the one giving us hope. He is the creator of all things new. He is the one who is making a way possible. That is the hope we should cling to.
Finishing the year off strong will take a lot. You won’t be able to do it on your own but you will be able to do it with a renewed strength only God can provide.
Stay strong my friends. Yes, the work you are doing greatly matters but remember that you matter to God as well. He’s got you, even if you feel like you’re running on fumes. God does have a history of doing incredible things with our offerings. You just might see Him ‘making a way in the wilderness’ right before your very eyes. To God be the glory!
