Let God Do the Driving

Have you ever shown up to your destination and were surprised that you had arrived? Not because you’re a terrible driver but because you don’t remember the commute? There’s a psychological reason behind it. In essence, because you’ve done it so often you go into an autopilot mode and time just kind of stops. You ‘wake up’ once you’ve arrived. It can be really unnerving! But you are safe while driving. You’ve just done it so many times that the excitement has worn off.

Perhaps during this past year you’ve felt like a combination of autopilot and crash test dummy. I know I have. Some days seem to run into each other and other times, I feel like I’m pivoting so much my head is spinning by the end of the day. It has been a HARD season.

Proverbs 16 gives us incredible joy though. Whatever our state of mind might be, if we commit our work to the Lord, our plans will be established. Whether you feel like you’re in a daze or out of control, stop. Let’s get on our knees and pray for the next step to be the Lord’s. And the step after that. And the step after that.

Let God be the navigator. Our journey becomes so much easier when He stays at the helm. And so much more difficult when we try to do it on our own. Our work is not for us and it is only worth doing when we give it to God and say ‘Thy will be done’.

A QUESTION FOR YOU: Do you have an example of giving God control?

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)
